OH ! HOLY MOTHER SAINT TERESA

Days before her sainthood Kolkata celebrated Holy Mother's birthday on 26th of August 2016. This time it is Mother Teresa's 106th birth anniversary and why this is so special indeed, because it came on the eve of her sainthood that will happen in Vatican, Rome on coming September 4th 2016 in the august presence of His Holiness Pope Francis and many other Cardinals. The Indian delegation will attend the grand ceremony headed by Ms Sushma Swaraj, Minister of external affairs. Delhi CM Mr Arvind Kejirwal will also attend the ceremony. 

Canonization is the act by which the orthodox, oriental orthodoxy, Roman Catholic or Anglican  Church declares that a person who has died was  a saint , upon which declaration the person is included in the canon, or list, of recognized saints. Originally, people were recognized as saints without any formal process. Later, different processes, such as those used today in the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches , were developed

In the Catholic Church  (both  Latin and Eastern Churches ), the act of canonization is reserved to the Holy See and occurs at the conclusion of a long process requiring extensive proof that the person proposed for canonization lived and died in such an exemplary and holy way that he or she is worthy to be recognized as a saint. The Church's official recognition of sanctity implies that the persons are now in heavenly glory, that they may be publicly invoked and mentioned officially in the liturgy of the Church, most especially in the Litany of saints. Other churches still follow the older practice .

In the Catholic Church, canonization involves a decree that allows veneration of the saint in the liturgy of the Roman Rite throughout the world. For permission to venerate on a local level, only beatification is needed, not canonization.

When Pope Francis stages this big canonization ceremony on September 4, the star of the show will be Mother Teresa , the legendary 'Apostle of poor' who stood as most iconic figure of Catholics during 20th century. An important member of supporting cast on that day will be Marcilo Hadddad Andrino, a Brazilian, the person who experienced the miracle attributed to the saint's intercession and his case a miraculous recovery from brain abscesses during December 2008.

The recovery occurred after his wife Fernanda Nasimento Rocha prayed to Mother Teresa for help as she watched her husband clinging to life.

Let, all citizens of our country pray to holy mother on the auspicious day of her canonization and subsequent attainment of sainthood  to save this country from the clutches of all odds that we are facing day to day .

SAVE KASHMIR SAVE OUR PEOPLE

I am the dark shadow of night ! I am the hell! I roam over dark clouds and disappear into darkness. I am the dark shade of country! I am the hell! 

I am told to be the necklace of valley.But I don't glitter now. Everyone is sleeping now under thick blanket of frost and snow. Street lights are looking pale and tired after emitting fluorescence during long nights. The temperature is very close to 13° Celsius.There is darkness everywhere. 

A white Toyota with bold mark of the word 'PRESS' slowly moved through the asphalt road and took a turn near the mosque and suddenly a group of Khaki clad people came in front of headlight of the car. A thundering order pierced the night 'HALT'  followed by Moth****od and with savage might  the handheld weapon smashed the front glass of the car before the person sat inside could loud the word 'PRESS'. The poor reporter of Deccan Herald was injured by patrolling CRPF group.

The picture is almost everywhere the same. Medicine/Pharmacy and Press are exempted of all rules as per international law, but no law prevails in the valley now. This is hell!

Poor Safique having a  Shikara on water of Dal Lake and through this he earns at least Rs.3000/- during this peak season is sitting idle in his house since last 45 days.His 7 years old youngest son could not go to school since last one and half month; it is not easy to control children of this age inside the house  24 x 7. His other two sons of  whom  one at higher secondary level and eldest one goes to college are also stuck inside the house.It is difficult to control young lads with full of emotions inside the house. Safique has bought carom board for both sons, but how many games can pass the time for long one and half month.The hotel owner Makbul at Srinagar has deep twitch on his forehead.All the bookings by domestic and foreign tourist are cancelled and he is finding it not very easy to maintain the hotel since enough of his savings he has already spent without generating any income. 

On other side in many districts state police has abandoned their stations due to fear of attacks from antisocial and terrorists and many of their barracks are captured by those CRPFs and Armed forces. Long curfew and pelting of stones by opportunists has made the life hell everywhere. Shelling of gun across the border as well as intruders from other side has compelled army to divide and tackle both corners and thus the situation became more difficult. This is first time on yesterday BSF has been deployed by government inside the city to cover up the shortfall of forces.Many state police personals have abandoned duty and taken safe shelter in places of their choice.Over and above, no connection of internet in the valley since July first week, no prepaid mobile service and service of all other network providers other than BSNL post paid, have been scrapped. 

GOD HAS GIVEN  US BREAD TO EAT, BUT HOW CAN LAKHS OF PEOPLE LIVE WITHOUT BREAD? No shop of provisions and necessities has pulled up its shutter since last 45 days. Horrible!

I don't understand those government policies, I as a common man do not understand Hurriot, I do not know PDP or BJP or National conference. I do not have any concern of Pakistan, but I am concerned about our own innocent Indian people who became victim by default. I am concerned about future of lakhs of school going children who are deprived to continue their classes, who will be responsible for their future if they loose a complete calendar year of studies? What will be the economy of Kashmir as it is losing millions of USD as well as INR per day? What will be the condition of petty business houses? What hell those people like Safique will row at this  sea of timeless darkness? It is really hell of  situation. There is darkness every where.

PRODUNOVA or KARMAKAR

Those oldies might be remembering 14th August 1947 where millions of people under British ruled India spent sleepless midnight listening the radio with famous 'tryst of destiny' by Nehru.After seventy long years, again, this time more then billions of Indian spent sleepless midnight sitting in front of their television set to watch their golden girl ready to travel the valley of death. A girl of 22 years who just turned into 23 recently hailing from small state of the country, Tripura, that many fellow countrymen might not have heard. Tripura is again a sibling of North East India which is generally untrodden by the citizens of so called main land. Obviously, infra-structure and facilities are bare minimum for a sport that has least popularity in cricket crazy country . Deepa Karmakar, the name came out with flying colours in sports fraternity in the country did not find a proper vault bar(forget about international quality) to practice at her home.With these minimum facilities she has practiced with concentration regularly day to day with fail to go for perfection of a lethal weapon of athletics called produnova, that many international stars dare to perform.

 The 'Produnova' or game of death may be not easy to pronounce, especially by our sports minister Vijoy Goel, or he may mix up the word with Supernova or Kuronikova. But in reality that this most  dangerous to perform and any one fails for a fraction of a second may lead to death. Truly, the Gold medalist of three times Simon Biles has termed this as 'insane' and she expressed that she will never try this. But, Deepa,the proud and dauntless daughter of North East never went back and completed this twice in  front worlds highest sports forum with perfection. She might have missed the medal by a whisker of fraction of time but already she has perfected the Produnova right into billion of hearts in the country. The crazy nation , where cricket is holier then the water of Ganges, one con not believe the one billion people sat at midnight of 14th August in front of TV to cheer for a girl of remote North East India! There lies her perfection, her perfect Produnova. She has brought North East in world map. The name of Tripura is now pronounces as synonymy of DEEPA KARMAKAR. 

When they will rename the word  PRODUNOVA into KARMAKAR?    

         

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

I was a young one of around 6/7 years of age when I  had the glimpse of the Independence Day for the first time.I was escorted (not as a dignitary obviously, but due to me tender age) by my father at Garrison Ground at Shillong, the then capital of Assam, where all celebrations were held during that time. The funfair at the surroundings I watched with my surprised look and I noticed a person far away from my reach stood on a makeshift podium busy in delivering an oration that was Latin and Greek to me. Lots of small vendors were making beeline near Red Cross as well as on  the small connecting bridge over river Umsirpi with colourful balloons and cheap plastic toys to lure young future citizens like me.Father used to buy toys or balloons for me and about an hour later I would happily return back at my home holding my father's strong hand.

Those were the days people around us were more patriotic and that was inborn instinct of those people. I remember anyone visited to any relative's house during those days, one would definitely find photograph of, Gandhi, Shubash, Tagore, Nehru, Vivekananda, Azad and Aurovindo etc hanging on the wall of sitting room. Our house was no exception till my school days.Patriotism and love for the country was inborn quality among our elders and no one was needed to teach them.Country was already divided in the name of religion and no one wanted to make fresh division in citizen's mental set up.All the theaters in the town had compulsorily played national anthem after the show and all used to stand up spontaneously to show respect to the anthem. 

Years passed away and when I was high school going lad I was more interested to watch free movie they used to show in all  five cinema halls on that auspicious day. Those were generally decade old black and white print patriotic movies like 'Bharat Ke Sahid' and some others that exactly I do not remember,Never the less I was happy that I could watch a movie free of cost.Meanwhile time changed. Theater hall stopped playing national anthem because new generation had no respect for the anthem and they started leaving the theater once the anthem started.

Much later, the year after year passed, the country became stronger both economically and with military might.We became nuclear super power, but sadly enough we descended from ideal character and became weaker socially.Citizens gradually became netizens. In the present day, people do not get time to celebrate the day in the way their predecessors used to spend. To most of the netizens it is now another paid holiday to enjoy with family members.We are smart people use smart phones. We will either market plenty of food items through app to cook and have with relish in our home or we will go for a day out to eateries around our city, and thereafter we  will go for popular movies and spend the holiday not Independence day. 

Television channels are showing old hits like, Attenborough's Gandhi(Hindi version), Teranga, etc every year with repeat telecast to garner patriotism from public but that also became a farce. No one is knowing who is real patriot in modern India. .Media hype of course create patriotism among mass for very temporary period. Millions of likes and posts, tweets, re tweets for Deepa Karmakar will move into oblivion within a span of a month or two because public memory is always short lived.But,

they have not heard the name of Satyendra Dube who was killed by land mafia in Bihar, because he informed Atal Behari Vajpayee, the then PM regarding misappropriation and diversion of funds from his dream road project.They are not interested to hear about Durgashakti Nagpal, the lady IAS who alone fought against land mafia in western UP and had to bow out for her honesty and patriotism.There are many more silent patriots who are fighting regularly inside the country against the system. There are, Govind Poneser, M Kalburgi and many gave their life fighting against our system.

We are selfie crazy. We  keep no stone un turned to get a selfie with  people and place of prominence. But,has anyone ever taken a selfie with our national flag? At least I am not aware.

Meanwhile, many of us will buy a national flag as fashion for one day, clip it on the dash board of our SUV  and in the afternoon we will sit together with our friends along with whiskey on the rocks poured in costly cut glass tumbler from sliver decanter and a bone china plate full of chicken drumsticks or minced pork fry and shout in unison Cheers! HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

RAGHURAM RAJAN : RETIRED HURT

A degree from IIT as well as Post Graduation from IIM is not rare in our country, but the vision, vision for the future of the country that probably only Raghuramm Rajan had. A qualified academician from USA business school was brought back  into country by previous Government and  was directly made the economic adviser to the Prime Minister.The faith on his capability was immense and within no time he started his innings as Governor of the top Bank of the country i.e. Reserve Bank of India on September 2013.The man with his strong hand started steering the economy from a gloomy situation towards the best. His in depth knowledge he converted into action and with a free hand he started cleansing process of the dirt that we had in our monetary system and new monetary measures was formulated by him. Some of  effective measures during his tenure he initiated successfully are as under:

a) The Prime Lending rate of each Bank was 10.30% p.a  when he took over in September 2013 and the PLR of Banks  now  stand at 9.30% p.a.

b)  The SENSEX and NIFTY rose by 51% and 60% respectively from the date he took over.

c) Reverse Repo rate was 7.5% during September 2013 is reduced up to 100 bps from September 2013 and now it is at its lowest at 6.5%

d) Consumer inflation rate was at double digit while he started his innings and at May 2016 it came down to 5.6%

e) Rupee plunged into new low with devaluation up to 1.14% just before he took over and presently it is almost stagnant , rather had an upward revision of 0.1% in June 2016.

f) FOREX reserve was $275 billion when he started the innings as RBI Governor and now it soared up to $365 billion an the country is ready for FCNR(B) redemption during incoming September 2016.

g) Current account deficit has also come down substantially from September 2013 to present date.(Exact date not available)

h) The cleaning of Banking system with iron hand lead to all Bank declare NPA level from Rs 2.52 lakh Crores to a mammoth Rs 5.95 lakhs cores approximately.

The irony of democracy is that any person irrespective of qualification or knowledge of the game can make his/her expert comment on the performance of anyone in the game of cricket or whatsoever, and that effects the concentration of the player and most of the occasions the player gets out. Here also, one of the finest player who knew the economy of the country better than anyone else of his contemporary period had to call it a day. Although neither did he comment anything adverse nor came out with any outburst, but everyone knows he was hurt in his mind. Raghuram exits quietly. JOY BABA NARENDRANATH

Many years before,  Satyajit Ray made one of his immortals "Joy Baba Felunath' where one knife thrower was shown throwing sharp pointed knives with vicious force at a character best known as Lalmohon Ganguly, who was then tied as a target over a round wooden board where generally such targets are practiced.On each occasion the dangerously pointed sharp knife passed near his body poor Ganguly closed his eyes with instant reflex. Definitely he shivered of his impending death on the next moment only. The knife genuinely missed him on each occasion and all twenty chances of  death he had overcome more then cats who has nine chances of life only they say.
Actually this entire episode of knife throwing to him was a planned game played by a character of the film Mr Maganlal Meghraj to create a fear psychosis on Mr P C Mitter, better known as Feluda to all viewers and to compel Feluda to get away from his road so that Meghraj can carry out his future plan and to rule over Benaras.

Here, we can watch the same plan with little adjustment on the script. The Meghraj is already ruling over Benaras and with an intention to rule over entire Uttar Pradesh he has carefully grafted his sordid plan.' Come on, Shoot me! Lynch me ! Knife me!' he shouted standing over the wooden dais knowing very well that not a single bullet will be fired on him; Not a single knife will come near his 56" body instead he could tactfully managed to draw the public sympathy over him.Even his oppositions are murmuring that had he came out with this velour before,lot of unfortunates could have been avoided. Meghraj of modern Benaras obviously will want to spread him empire throughout the state of UP and for this he will not leave a single stone un-turned.His followers although not very happy on him for his this new avatar and his all this 'asli' and 'nakli' differentiation. In the film of Ray there was a evil character named 'machhlibaba' where many were not sure that if he was 'asli machhlibaba' or 'nakli machhlibaba'; so our new age voters of UP are now perplexed with this 'asli' and 'nakli' aspects. Who will be able to judge asli among a bunch of naklis? In the film the great Felu Mitter was able to find out asli and obviously nakli was detected by police with his help.But, here in present UP, who will do the Feluda and detect the nakli ? Readers, Let us pray to departed soul of Ray to kindly lend us some help, and till then let our modern Meghraj rules.
