Don't say Dakhar or Khanbang :this is not proper

This morning I received an endorsement of an appeal made to local tribals of Meghalaya by Padmashree Patricia Mukhim requesting them to deal with non tribals in a more dignified manner and not to call them with  derogatory remarks.
The overall theme was this in her essay and I desire to make some addition here.

01. Non tribal in Meghalaya has highest inhabitation  and density of Bengalee people who are treated by local people in different way in socio-cultural society. For example,  locals strongly believe that since they are mostly Christian  by faith and as such they tilted more to Western culture and these bengalee cannot mingle with the culture they have. Local people have a pretty determined Idea on bengali culture.

02.When they think about music and film they think bengali would be in tabla, harmonium and sitar only and local will be in guitar,  mandolin,  and drum set etc.But how many of them know of Nandan Bagchi the best drummer in India when Eddie Rynjah was in his helm in late sixties of last century.  Nandan is bengali.  Again late Ravi sankar and his daughters Nora Jones and Aonuska sankar gave this world more musical extravaganza than their prodigal "Farengs"  who play guitar. Harmonium is a German musical instrument  and violin also from Italy which bengali play.

02.Local has not seen bengali listening Ed Sheeran or playing their fingers on reeds of a piano. This is not their fault. The local bengali has forgotten this part of culture from their life by receiving repeated threat of their life and property since last 50 Years.  They are afraid to  go and watch any concert or live music in cities of Meghalaya due to long lasted fear psychosis of being manhandled by locals in many occasions in past. Through this write up,  I want to remind local indigenous Petit of Meghalaya  that they are wrong. Bengali are most culturally rich in country probably may be compared only with French.

03. Bengali also watch Hollywood movies and other movies of European countries. It is not they do not understand the language or culture of Hollywood, but in recent past they are afraid to go and watch good English movies due to the same reason they avoid to go to concerts.

04. Bengali are most food lovers than any Indians. How many of local people are aware of a proper Fareng dinner style and manners? How many of you know the number of pieces of cutleries in an English dinner is 26? How many courses of dinner are generally have in a proper Fareng dinner? Bengali are first to learn all these etiquette and manner before all because British first settled in Bengal. But,  due to many adversities in their life many of them forgot this in this part of country.

05.  I again apprise that, average Bengali are properly educated in all respects at par with average local people if not more  and it is a proven fact.  So,  I would put a request to all local indigenous people of Meghalaya to change their mindset and please treat them in a better dignified manner.

Thank you.

  • Thou shalt not enter

The government of Meghalaya  has passed an ordinance by amendments of certain enforced acts of the state and thus indirectly prohibiting the entry of all other Indian nationals within the boundary of the state without any valid reasons although the government has said this is for the safety and security of the residents of the state.
Now the obvious question arises here that how the safety and security of resident is determined? Are all local residents are in secured at the present state of affairs? If so what is gravity of such insecurity? Is home ministry of the state as well as state police was informed for such security concerns and why so this was not shared in public domine?
Meghalaya government clarified that every person desire to enter in the state has to enter a form with name address and purpose of visit as well as period of stay etc. Are these not smiler in language of Inner Line Permit required for entering in protected areas like Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland etc? Is this ordinance an indirect and back door application of Inner Line Permit?
Actually if this is understood from broader point of view,  the local state government under pressure from all powerful infamous student union who are having a premonition of danger for infiltration of so called stateless citizens of nineteen lakhs people whose name is not found in recent National Register of Citizens or NRC in neighbouring state of Assam.
But if one analyse the human nature in socio-economic terminology it is found migration always happens for search of better lifestyle,  better economic opportunity and better places on the earth. Assam will not be an exception. It is a known fact that Meghalaya is  not a developed state and basically can be termed as a consumer state rather than producer.  It lacks any industrial activity and also lacking natural resources to contribute towards national income. The state Perennially depending on central fund for its survival.
In such cases I will request state heads of Meghalaya kindly to examine who will migrate to a place not having better living and economy than where they are staying at present?
It is also known fact that Assam is a better place to live and better opportunities for leading a decent life. So,  why people will migrate to Meghalaya where every chance to be treated differently by local hot heads for an outsider?
Again,  if we look upon the data of those 19lakhs people of Assam,  major chunk are Bengali speaking Hindu and Muslim by religious  faith. So,  is it not more feasible chances that that may migrate,  if at all to nearby state of West Bengal which is not only a developed state,  it has better economic opportunities and better facility of living? Most important that West Bengal speaks the same language those stateless people speak.  Moreover, Chief Minister of West Bengal already advocated her concern for those so called stateless people. So,  it will be more likely that West Bengal will absorb those migration,  if such large scale migration happens also.
So,  according to abovementioned analysis it is more or less sure that fear psychosis of Meghalaya government is baseless.
Furthermore, the state will loose much share of its tourism industry which picked up a bit in recent years. Most tourist do not like to be disturbed with formalities during their tour.
Government will be ultimately on the losing side.

They are quarantined: Incommunicado Quarantine is for 40 days not more. Historically we know the ships and passengers were quarantined in isolation, preferably an island with a premonition of dreaded virus they may carry and will effect others. Quarantine may be used interchangeably with cordon sanitaire, and although the terms are related, cordon sanitaire refers to the restriction of movement of people into or out of a defined geographic area, such as a community, in order to prevent an infection from spreading. The word quarantine comes from an Italian variant (seventeenth-century Venetian) of 'quaranta giorni', meaning forty days, the period that all ships were required to be isolated before passengers and crew could go ashore during the Black Death plague epidemic. Quarantine can be applied to humans, but also to animals of various kinds, and both as part of border control as well as within a country. Venice was a incredible place in its heydays like modern Jammu and Kashmir. Although Venice was cherry for plate of war mongers like Napoleon or Ottomans but it always kept its pride as as glorious commercial center of Europe alike Jammu and Kashmir that retained its identity from war game between Pakistan and India more than half century and its perennial beauty is never hampered. Venice, ironically received killer plague from China through rats infiltration and Jammu Kashmir received terrorists through infiltration/intrusion and peace loving people received this killer virus from across border. When killer plague out broke in Venice, city official realised that it was the rat borne disease in killing the sanctity of the place, they enforced a decree by which all incoming vessels had to anchor offshore for a full 40days before they should be permitted to enter in City and mingle with others. To this day, this number 40 quaranta in Italian served as a reminder of the origin of this word quarantine. For Jammu and Kashmir in same line the government offshore them in isolation fearing the dreaded virus should by jettisoned for quarantine. My question is that although today is 43rd day of quarantine but safe passage for quarantined kashmir people is far away and at the mercy of some people who are busy in planning to obliterate linguistic difference between brethren and gauging the map to magnify one language as numero uno for this republic. Quarantining of people raises questions of civil rights, fundamental rights especially in case of long confinement or segregation from society. But who cares? I have had my catharsis already watching this sacrilegious acts of people at the helm of affairs and compelled to expostulate my exasperation though this media. I really feel Asphyxiated.

Gulag : archipelago in Assam India

Every morning day starts for Bimal Amal,  Jogomaya and many others with a ray of lost hope. The tryst of destiny brought them here and sword of domacle hung over their head with interminable continuity. Because this place is not their home with loving relations, but it is just a concentration camp like few others in vast landscape of Assam, a province in northeastern part of India. Although, these camps are officially named as "Detention Camp" by sectorian provincial government but those wretched people are detained there are living in most inhuman condition. They are deprived of all benefits that an under trial detenue gets and most of those people are never tried in judiciary.  Those people are picked up by provincial cops as suspected non-citizen of this republic and detained for a trial and subsequent deportation to a foreign land that they have never seen. But this mockery of trial never happens. Sometimes cops acts as a character in this shakespearean drama "comedy of errors" and arrests/detains someone else for namesake of others. These Bimal, Amal etc are all from a particular community with a particular religious faith. This act of provincial government is inhuman against basic human rights and requires Direct or indirect intervention of United Nations since government of India is maintaining silence due to some political obligation which is always unwanted at all
circumstances.
Moreover, if any of such detenue proved as a non-citizen in later stages which will take him/her back is a million dollar question now.
Till such time as these Detention camps are "gulag" of the province of Assam and fate of those detenue is unknown.
