QANDEEL BALUCH : IT'S NEITHER BEGINNING NOR END

Fouzia Azeem, better known by the name Qandeel Baloch, was a Pakistani model, actress, feminist activist and social media celebrity, is recently killed by her own sibling Waseem Azeem. The incident drew much hue and cry internationally.Infinite numbers of  posts appeared in Face Book and Twitter from all corner of the globe denouncing the murder.Questions are asked and numbers of discussion was heard in media condemning killing of women for honour both socially and culturally. Many of them clearly opined that this is darkest part of social evil in Pakistan. In this context socialite author Ms Shobba De raised a question that  how long and how many Qandeel will be sacrificed like this ?
Here I would like to answer that sacrifice of life of women for society is not new and is not only found in Pakistan. Entire world in different ages smeared their face by doing this social crime since the day of immortals.Famous author Taslima Nusreen has opined in one of article that women, specially virgins were brutally killed in the name of welfare of the society. Some exerts for public consumption:

a) In ancient Greece Goddess Artemis( for wedding, sex and reproduction) was offered as sacrifice Ifzenia, the daughter of King Agamemnon, who was cursed by the Goddess.

b) In south India women were sacrificed in front of Goddess Kali to attain good health of all villagers and to be free from all diseases.

c) In Europe, places like Wales and Ireland women were beheaded on the altar to please the almighty.

d) In ancient Egypt every year one virgin  girl was forcefully drowned to death in mighty Nile  on the belief that water level of Nile will increase to irrigate its banks to get more fertility of land.
e) In Germany  first blood of virgin ( first menstruation) was used to  heat the metal to  sharpen the sword.
f) In Australia, Japan,East Indies, Korea and many other countries women were/are used by men folks in the name of welfare of the society.

These examples are illustrative only and not exhaustive.Till today many parts of India also women are becoming the scapegoats in the name of cleaning of social evil. The lady named Mukhtaranmai was brutally raped by twenty odd people in Pakistan. Her fault was that she was sister of a men who has committed some social crime and became fugitive, and thus sister has received the punishment.
We tell our world is civilized and we are gentlemen. Is not till this day we are using our women to cover up our social evils and in the name and honour of the society we are killing our own sister, fiance or our mother? Of course we are not savage like medieval days, we are neither burring them alive nor setting fire on their body, but how many of our women are really living with pride and honour? In our country , India, women are raped, tortured and killed daily, most of which are not reported and hence does not come in public.Recently in Mandya district of Karnataka daughter was killed by father and her maternal uncle as she wanted to marry a man of her choice. In Haryana and Punjab, Western part of Uttar Pradesh innumerable cases of such killing of women/virgin young girls are happening on regular basis. None of us could rein this act of barbarism specifically.Nor any strong law is enacted against such social crimes.Only some silver lining in the murky sky that Pakistan Government has arrested the brother of Qandeel, he is now in judicial custody. Moreover, Pakistan Government is bringing a bill in their parliament for banning honour killing.
Qandeel Baluch is not a stray case. It is only the tip of an iceberg. How long we will keep quiet against these series of heinous crime against women? When we will learn to honour our women?
